FAQs

We get it, if you’re thinking about new flooring you’ve probably got lots of questions. Here are answers to some of the most common we get asked. But if you can’t find the information you’re after, get in touch. We’re happy to answer any more questions you have.

Come and visit the store first to look at the available products. That way we can help you with your flooring selection and better understand what you need. If you have the length and width measurements of your rooms, bring them with you and we can give you a price estimate to help with your choices.

Yes, we can do both email and phone consultations. We’ll ask you some questions to get a good understanding of your goals for your floorcoverings. We can also organise access through real estate/tenants/family/friends, do the measures, provide you with a quote and complete the installation. We can drop samples off for you or can arrange for them to be collected. Plus we’re happy to send you photos of samples. Lots of our customer love using this time-efficient selection process.

Yes, you’ll need to book a measure and quote before we can go ahead with your product selection. Our measure and quote is FREE and there’s no obligation to proceed.

Measures can be done as quickly as 1-2 days but it’s usually within a week so we can find a suitable time for both you and us.

Generally, the process is

  1. Come and visit us in the showroom or get in touch. We can give you advice and suggestion along with an approximate cost if possible. Samples will also be provided.
  2. Measure will be done.
  3. Quotation will be supplied to you.
  4. Acceptance and deposit paid.
  5. Installation will start within approximately two weeks.

The usual turnaround from start to finish is about four weeks. This can change though depending on both parties being available for the measure and how long material selection takes.  Although not always possible, BMW will try and work within your required timeframe however it is advised to start preparing for new floor coverings about 2-3 months before you’d like the installation complete.

Usually, the turnaround is about 2 weeks from paying your deposit and accepting the quotation. This may change if the stock is not available or it’s during a busy period. (October-December)

If BMW is removing your existing floorcoverings and moving the furniture, your job is fairly simple. We need you to unpack cupboards and robes so they can be moved, remove any loose items on top of surfaces (tables, dressers, tv cabinets) as well as unplug and remove any electronics (computers, stereo systems, and televisions).

If you’re removing furniture yourself, we need rooms to be empty with all flooring removed from the subfloor. This includes staples and stuck-down foam. If you’re having trouble doing this, please contact us for advice.

You don’t need to be home as long as we can gain access. But it’s also fine if you’d like to be there. If we come across any hurdles or need information from you, we’ll get in touch. Many customers prefer not to be home as the installation process can be noisy at times.

Yes. For an additional fee we can move your furniture, take up and dispose of your existing floor coverings.

Yes. All our products are priced to include installation.

This is an area of excellence for BMW. We pride ourselves on ensuring our installation is carried out in the most professional and best practice. Our installation team are fully trained professionals who attend regular training to keep up to date with Australian standards and new installation technology. There is a wealth of experience and a variance of expertise within our team. Open discussion and training between our expert tradesmen ensure all installations are conducted to the utmost perfection.

Floor preparation takes time. Expect about 70% of the complete turnaround time. But remember great floor preparation is the key to a floor with an impeccable finish and performance.

We’ve never seen a slab that doesn’t need floor preparation. Although your subfloor may look smooth there are always deviations, lumps, height differences and imperfections. Although they may seem minor or even invisible to you, they’ll be amplified once your flooring is installed.  A floor without proper preparation can show lumps and provide poor adhesion causing the product to lift. If you miss the floor preparation step the manufacturer is unlikely to warrant the product, it will decrease its lifespan, and won’t look its best.

Your quote for vinyl, timber and sometimes carpet will include the cost of floor preparation. It’s based on the visible requirement and years of experience knowing what is under your existing floor coverings. In the unlikely event we find additional work is needed, we’ll discuss it with you prior to starting.

Most carpet is measured in linear metres rather than square metres, while most hard flooring is measured in square metres but calculated in pack size. It’s always best to get in touch for a measure and quote so you don’t miscalculate.

We sell wool, solution-dyed nylon and polypropylene carpets.

These different carpet types include loop, plush and twist. Take a look here to find out more. Or get in touch if you need more explanation.

Choosing carpet can be a tough decision, and there are a few things to consider when making your decision.  Think about the volume of traffic it will get, the finished look you’re after and also consider your budget.

Yes. Engineered timber flooring has a genuine timber surface and can be susceptible to scratching, denting and marking. But chat to us and we’ll let you know the best way to maintain your beautiful engineered timber floor so it lasts a lifetime.
